Membership

The Vaca Valley Radio Controllers (VVRC) are happy that you have shown an interest in our hobby. We are anxious to meet you and welcome you into our club. We extend an open invitation to join us at our flying site in Fairfield. The site is on the south side of Cement Hill road between Claybank and Peabody Roads. Look for the VVRC sign. The best time to visit is on Saturday or Sunday from about 9 am to 1 pm.

We hold monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. We meet at the County Aviation Building Nut Tree Airport in Vacaville. At the meetings, we have instructional talks, show & tell, a raffle and a lot of hangar flying. We also discuss business.

If you are new to or just curious about the sport, we will provide you with an introductory flight lesson using a club model and the "Buddy-box" training system. If you get hooked on flying (we believe you will) we will assist you in selecting a trainer-style plane, radio and equipment, and provide some assistance in constructing the model. We will provide flight instruction, at no cost, after you acquire and AMA license and join our club. We can provide instruction during the week as well as on the weekends. If you are already a qualified pilot and wish to fly, you will need a current AMA license and must be willing to have your aircraft safety checked. We will brief you on our flying site rules and may ask for a checkout flight, if you plan to fly solo. You are welcome to fly with us as a guest for 3 days. After that our By-Laws require termination of your guest status, (scheduled contests excepted).

To join our club you must first belong to the National Academy of Model Aeronautics, (AMA). This organization provides necessary personal and club insurance. You can join the AMA online at www.modelaircraft.org. We have AMA membership applications available. Adult AMA membership is currently $58.00 per year. Youth membership is $1.00 without the AMA magazine subscription or $15.00 with the subscription.

VVRC club membership is $90 for the year, + a $10 late fee after Feb 15th.

New member dues are $90.00 (prorated quarterly from January 1) plus a one-time initiation fee or otherwise known as a runway fee of $100.00 (not prorated).

Junior membership is $5.00 per year with no initiation fee. And all junior members are required to be at the field with an adult.

18-54 yrs old …... $90 membership ($10 late fee after Feb 15th)

55-70 Yrs old …... $70 membership ($10 late fee after Feb 15th)

70 + Yrs old ...…... $55 membership ($10 late fee after Feb 15th)

New Member $90 membership (pro-rated) + $100 Runway Fee or initiation fee (not pro-rated)

Whether you join our club or just want to see what is going on, we would be happy to have you visit our flying site! Please be SAFETY conscious. The pit area and pilot boxes are reserved for pilots ONLY!!
